RV Lock - Interference with the entrance handle?

Hi all - I found lots of discussion on the RV Lock and how simple the install was. I was just about to install mine then noticed a possible issue. When my entrance hand rail is stowed in the travel position, it partially covers the existing door latch (not a problem w/ the stock unit). But looking at this RV Lock, the latch looks like it'll protrude further from the face of the door and now interfere w/ the rail. I haven't seen/read this issue from anyone else. Take a look at the pictures. Did my handrail get installed too high?

Arg! Thought this was going to be a 10 minute job. Thanks!

    orbsah,

If you are worried about it "rubbing" the two together, put something on the swing handle like black two sided tape or the like. You can find the rubber material on the bar online as well. A small piece of that would work too right?

Thanks for the suggestion. I took a closer look and the thickness of the RV lock under where the door rail goes is about 3/4" and there's a little less than 1/2" clearance so it's more than just rubbing. I'm pretty certain this isn't going to work for my unit unless I move the handrail (which I'm not going to do). Looks like I'll be returning this.

I went with an RVlocksandmore.com lock and had a similar issue with clearance. I just disassembled the handrail and put it all back together upside down. It now clears, I still have a handrail and I didn't have to drill any new holes... everything went back into the original holes.

I don't think anyone has ever noticed the upside down handrail.

The handle hits the RVLock on our Solitude when folded for travel. In fact, the lock keeps the handle from folding completely flat by about 1/4". It stays in place during travel so it's secure enough - and I'm not worried about rub marks (none noticeable yet...).

How about if you fold the handle toward the slide? If not, it's an easy chore to make spacers for the handle mounts with a piece of black starboard and basic woodworking tools. Will never rot, no new holes, and a fantastic lock in the end.
