We agree with these comments although we don't "always" put the jacks down. However, if our truck is staying hooked up then we are only using the RV for sleep and a bathroom at a rest are, so, at least in our Solitude, we normally wouldn't open any slides in this configuration. We can reach the main bedroom (in the back on our 379FL), bathroom, and one door of the fridge from the other door.

Regardless of the configuration, make sure your unit is as level as possible before opening slides. Its just easier on the mechanisms.

My brother's son-in-law is named Greg Murphy. His dad married a childhood friend from our church 25 years ago. They seem like nice people to us. Your's must be from a different branch of the family...

We do a little dry camping especially on longer trips, more than 400 miles. We stay at Harvest Hosts when we can and we don't unhitch. We do put the Jack's down until they touch the ground and we open the slides. No issues. We do have a residential refrigerator so a little less worry about being level for the refrigerator.

A few years back, we were looking at late model used 5ths. One nice unit (non GD) had a deep mar across the floor. We ask the salesman about it. He stated that this can happen when the slides are deployed without stabilizers down or unit not level. So, I learned from Murphy's lesson to someone else...Happy Trails
