Whoa! Hopefully all in the TV came away without physical injury... The emotional always challenging.
I wonder if the crumple in the driver side rear was the result of what started the destabilization.Last edited by geotex1; 04-26-2021 at 09:59 PM.

Holy Cow! i saw the damage in the left rear corner also and wondered the same thing. Yes, makes you wonder how the tow vehicle faired. Hope all was spared physical injury, mental injury had to be bad.

I guess they don’t know how to use air bags for trailer recovery in California. I worked accident recovery for a major trucking firm for several years, and you would be amazed at the lack of damage to a trailer if it was properly righted, using the bags. We often didn’t even need to unload some units before bringing them back on the wheels.
You ease the bag between the road and the trailer, then gently raise the trailer. The second tow rig has a couple of straps around the trailer and maintains tension so that you don’t have the “SLAM” when the trailer comes upright and back onto it’s wheels.
There was no need for the dramatic “SLAM” that nearly popped the slide out of the body in this case...
I’d say rookie tow truck team that may have caused a great deal of unnecessary damage to the trailer.Tom and Janice (known as Tom in PGH on the “other” forum)
First came the 18' Comfort bumper-pull, was great for 20 years.

It's all about speed out there. If there are no fatalities, the CHP wants the scene cleared ASAP and traffic flow restored because of the extreme population density and insufficient capacity of the road/highway system.
Funny thing is, I've seen recovery teams in Chicago work exactly as you describe - seen the semis drive off even - in what seemed to be just a bit longer than they crew uprighting that poor Solitude... At least there's video to fight the insurance if they don't want to total it. Really do hope everyone came away ok.Rob & Nikki + Cloverfield
