    Electric Cord Issue

The gray threaded collar on our Furrion 50 AMP cord has broken. Is there a way to replace the collar? The cord does not seem to want to stay plugged in well without the collar.

    Thanks

Paul - How about mixing up some two part epoxy to repair the ring. You could use a hose clamp to hold it in place until the epoxy has cured. Just make sure you apply it sparingly and keep it out of the threads of the ring.

Ours is getting bad also. Guess we are going to be changing the plug. Not impressed with Furrion junk.

Maybe get a right angle 50A pig tail and secure it permanently to the cord...

It's the basic design not necessarily a Furrion thing. Happens a lot with with marine shore power cords. I think the key is to be VERY careful not to knock the end of the cord around. Agree the right angle adapter is probably a good fix.

I agree I've been extremely careful with the thing because I've seen this problem coming my previous units had that cord roll up inside and you didn't have a connection problem I'll see if I can find an adapter today

I have a lot more experience with the marine version of the problem, but the concept looks to be the same.
It is important to keep the twist lock of the electrical terminals engaged as the main means of retention.
Also, keep the threads of the collar lubricated and never completely tighten the collar.

If the power cord twists just a little and the terminal twist lock disengages, an over tightened and dry collar can't move a little to relieve the twist it is now taking . . . and it will break.

    Thanks for the info. Rob
Amazon has lots of 50 RV stuff and they do mention marine. I set my cord into the plug and just hope it will not fall out. It is getting harder and harder to get it in and out. I am sure that I will be replacing the plug soon.
