The outside shower is relatively low-flow (the flex hose is very small diameter) and, in my opinion, would not provide the volume of water at the pressure needed for a good rinse in the black tank. Inside my utility bay, I have a lead-free brass Y install just before the pressure regulator (which is on a 90-degree elbow) going into the city water inlet. On one side of the Y I have a short, stainless steel flex hose to use for the black tank flush. I connect it to flush and disconnect it when I'm through. The Y has valves on both sides to shut off the water when not in use. I used to keep the Y at the park water spigot, but after "donating" a few to the next occupant, I decided to change that... and not deal with another long hose.

And does this also give me the advantage of being able to use "hot" water to flush the tank?
I think the short answer is yes, you could. Can't comment about the hot water aspect, so maybe. I think your best bet is to back fill with 5-10 gallons of fresh water, with or without heat, and apply the GEO method (detergent, water softener, and bleach) and drive to your next destination. The agitation will do more than static flushing. When I have fouled my sensors, I've found no amount of static flushing helped. Lots of stuff on the forum about "GEO method". This is a link someone else posted on the forum.

We also use a "Y" going to fresh water and black tank flush hoses. The vacuum breaker on the black tank flush makes this a safe configuration IMHO. The reason for the separate "black" hose is that we then put a nozzle on it to rinse the drain line and fittings. And THAT's where we want to prevent contamination.

Do you connect a water pressure regulator on each branch of the Y?

I'll try to keep this short. We bought our Solitude from a dealer in Colorado, $11000 below national average, and noticed a smell from the black tank. The dealer agreed to flush the tank. We left with our new to us Solitude feeling great. We stayed in it that night and the smell got worse. Long story short... the anti-siphon breaker valve was bad and he had used the outdoor shower to flush the black tank but configured the valves to winterize which contaminated the fresh water system. Sewage smell in all the water system including the ice maker

It took me about a month to get the system sanitized but still not using the ice maker. We bought a countertop RO system and Ice Maker.

I use a separate hose for flushing the black tank and close the y valve to the fresh water when emptying it.

We use the shower nozzle/hose and connect it to the black tank flush for a quick and easy way of flushing the black tank without pulling/carrying another hose. I have noticed that several other full-timers with the nautilus system do the same.

No need. Since the sprayer end of the black tank flush system is essentially open, the pressure does not get high enough to cause issues.

I’m not so much worried about cross-contamination, but more the condition of the faucet that you’ll hook your black-water flush or fresh water hose to. I would never hook my fresh water hose to any spigot that is near a dump area. Even if it is marked “drinking water” or “potable water”, I have no assurance what was hooked to it just before I arrived.

We use a dedicated fresh water hose and a dedicated black-water hose, and never the two will cross. I also spray the bib and all connections with alcohol prior to hooking anything up. I may be a little paranoid (I’ve never actually seen them watching me, but I know that they are there), but we’ve never had a water issue in over 30 years of camping.

Nope. I just let the black tank go. I don’t always open the valve on the Y if the pressure is real high but as second said it is an open end line so no pressure builds up

I have a water meter "gal/min" on the black tank nozzle. I am getting the same or just a little more gal/min using this setup. Ultimately, the nozzles on the rinse reduce the flow. I fill my tank up with 10gals after every flush to "seed" the blk tank. Helps keep it clean and clog free.. also gives the Happy Camper something to get started with.
