30 amp surge protector
Our new Imagine XLS MKE17 will arrive this week. It looks like I can spend as much as I want on a surge protector. I don't want to spend more than I need to. Please help me to know what is completely adequate.
Thanks.

You don't want just a "surge protector." You want an EMS (electrical management system). The Progressive Industries units are popular with lots of folks. They come in both portable (plug in at the pedestal) and hard-wired (installed inside the rig for convenience and security). I highly recommend using one. An EMS has saved us appliance damage on more than one occasion.
By the way, you can create a signature block with your RV and tow vehicle information (see mine below). That way you won't have to repeat that information whenever you post or ask a question. You can create a signature by going to:

Thanks to all! These can be installed at the dealer? I like that idea better than portable.

We have the portable Progressive Industries and love it but we lock it on the post so it doesn't get picked. A bit of a PITA but it's a little cheaper then the on-board and if ever it those fail, we can always plug directly in the pole. If the hardwired fails while camping, you my be stuck.

We us a Progressive Industries hardwired surge protector (EMS-HW30C). I installed the until myself right behind the fuse panel. We have no worries about mistakenly leaving it a site or having it stolen since it is hard wired inside our trailer out of plain sight. It works well and has saved us few times.
You can find more info on their Web page (https://www.progressiveindustries.net/ems-hw30c)Last edited by BeerBrewer; 05-03-2021 at 09:48 PM.
