Long Point Park Melbourne Beach, Fl.

My wife and I stayed at Long Point Park last week. It is located just north of Sebastian Inlet on A1-A. The park is on an island in the Indian River. About 120 sites are on the water. On the west side of A1-A is the Indian River, on the east side is the Atlantic ocean. This is a great campground if you are interested in water activities. There is a boat ramp in the park. You can pull a boat up to most sites. The sites are grass, the majority are relatively level. 30&50 amp power, there are about 16 interior sites with FHU. A Publix grocery store is about 10 miles north. We had a very good seafood dinner at the New England Eatery and Pub about 5-6 miles north of the park. The restrooms are old and were not frequently cleaned the 5 days we were there. All 200+ sites were taken. This was our first visit, you will need to register ahead of time to get a site. There is beach access 1/2-1 mile north of the park entrance. There is no charge to park there. The staff was very friendly. Our Solitude 368RD is 39'. There are plenty of sites big enough for this size and larger.

The scenery is outstanding. One of the islands is accessable by bridge. There are "woodsie" areas to walk and explore.

Thanks for the tip. I looked up this park after your earlier post that you were going there. Your review sounds much better than the ones I found online (except the bathrooms of course, same reviews). Glad to hear sites are big enough, couldn't find that info before. We will put it on our list of places to try.

    Scott and Jan-

We spent a lot of time on the water, in the river and the beach. The fun we had boating, swimming and fishing overshadowed the park's shortcomings. Most of the sites run together, campers are very close to one another. Also, there is very little shade just by nature of the lay out of the park. With that said we are returning in July and reserved one of the sites (101) that is shaded by a large tree.

We were there a couple years ago and this park is on our return list. Great place to watch birds.
