Getting Gas on the Road
No, this is not a Tums/antacid thread.
We have only taken 2 hour trips since we started back Glamping a year ago. Never a need to gas up while hitched.
We are taking a 400 mile 6 hour trip in June. I'm thinking 2 stops for gas.
Trying to plan the route via goggle maps to hit trucks stops/gas stations with "wide berths" so I don't get in a bad situation and take out a gas pump.
Any new fangled ways or apps that help with this planning? How do you do it?

Yes, there are! I personally prefer app-based for on-the-go changes. I use Sygic Truck. It's quite powerful, and you can enter in all of your specifics about your rig, and be confident to be on a route accessible to your rig, including fuel stops. Many also advocate the desktop route planner you'll find mentioned often here. Google is definitely not your RV friend, but when you get savvy with Sygic, you can work them together!

Just look for parallel pumps vs perpendicular stations.

A side note, and I have had to do this in a couple circumstances, you can usually find a parking lot where you can unhitch and run for a regular station and come back. Strange and unplanned events happen to best laid plans and the most seasoned of us...

If you are looking for tips for buying gas, instead of diesel fuel, then you need to find gas stations that have parallel lanes and high roofs. Also no curbing that hinder entry and exit turns. We used Google satellite view and Flying J truck stops that had dedicated RV Lanes. You can download the Excel spreadsheet that has a column (N) for RV Lane, it gives the store address and interstate it is along. It is also a good idea to fill up more frequently.

I haven't seen a Costco yet that posed an issue.

I've downloaded Sygic GPS Truck and Caravan. It look interesting, is it worth $59.99 for 3 years of maps? Thanks
