We stay at state parks a lot and most times the hose has the end cut off. So that means I should not replace it with my hose so I can flush the black?

The end is cut off for a reason. It's not hard to figure out why.

With no one behind me, I have been known to take the cutoff hose off, hook my flush hose up, flush, put cutoff hose back on and leave. I asked a camp host and the check in station one time if it was "ok" as long as I wasn't holding up traffic, and they said no problem. Told me the hose was cut off just to keep from having a long hose coiled up and laying around.

Don't know if that is the real reason, but it worked for them (and me).

I use an anti-siphon valve. Lowe's has them for $7 or so and it is a bit of insurance against black water back flow. I also use a shutoff valve as it is quicker than going back to the faucet to turn off the water.
