    Roof structure

I’m getting ready to install solar and need to nail down the fixtures. Anyone know if they are wood or aluminum trusses on the imagine?

You should probably use screws instead of nails as well.

Truss top cords are only 1x2 and will readily split if not pre-drilled/use of proper fasteners.

Absolutely agreed. In this case pilot holes are your friend. Also not a bad idea to fill the hole with sealant before you drive the screw in.

1x2? Yikes. Pre-drilling was always the plan followed by a piece of Eternabond and plenty of Dicor. You have me questioning my fasteners now, I was planning to use 1/4” lag bolts.

Self-drilling structural screws. NOVA is a good brand.
