Solar install and other roof fasteners
So after writing to GD asking questions about the roof on my 2019 Reflection 303 RLS , i did get a drawing sent to me showing where the roof truss spacing and where the AC venting goes. i never did get my other questions answered and I know some of you have done roof projects.
i want to add solar panels. Can anyone tell me the thickness of the roof material on these roof systems? I assume plywood under the roof membrane. Recommended screws or fasteners? Of course thinking stainless steel, but i have heard of thin roof material needing expansion bolts as fasteners.
Any tips of help appreciated. I am also putting a 1 1/2" hole to mount a cellular antenna shaft and cable drop to cell router, plus some type of solar PV wire drop from the roof into the coach so type of fasteners is needed. If it is at least 1/2" plywood or similar, I would guess normal SS screws would work.Alan and Paula

I used 1" long 1/4" lag screws with washers to hold my panels down, followed by alpha self leveling sealant. No issues so far although one of them didn't get much purchase for some reason...

You can answer your own question about the decking thickness probably the easiest. Pop down the inside lens of your skylight. Should be able to tell then for sure. Also, zinc-plated fasteners will grab onto lap sealant better than stainless.
Good luck with your install!Rob & Nikki + Cloverfield

The roof is probably 3/8 plywood. I used 1/4 x 1 lags and put dicor under the mounts then over the lags on top. I run 75 mph in to some strong headwinds. Never an issue in twelve years.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I start drilling today. Crazy Banshee, Nice set up! Do you spend anytime in CRA Emerald cove during the winter? I've seen a rig and trailer that looks like yours there.
