    50 amp cord storage

In the motorhome I recently sold, there as a power wind cord reel that the 50 amp cord was stored on. Where and how is everyone storing there bulky 50 amp cord? Right now I am just stuffing it in the bay, but I’d like to come up with something better. Has anyone installed a cord reel and if yes, where did you mount it?

Not sure what model of RV you have. You might want to let us know as it will help.

You can see my model in my signature line.

    This is what I did....

Like you, I came from a motorhome and got spoiled by a few of the things they do. So I found a way to add a Shoreline powered reel. I have since put a light in that cavity so I can see how the cord is winding.

I bought this bag on Amazon. It actually lays flatter than it appears in the picture. My 50 amp 30 foot cord coils up nicely and there's a bottom compartment to organize my electrical accessories and I can throw a coil of CTV cable in there. Doesn't change the weight and bulk of the cord (still a heavy damn thing), but it keeps me organized and packs better in my storage bay.

I repurposed an old milk crate. I can easily get the whole cord in and the handles on the crate makes it easy to carry. Click image for larger version.

I sprung for the Morryde manual cord reel. What a treat.. That cord was just too much of a struggle.

I went super cheap. A varmint guard from a deer feeder. Power cable winds up nicely around the out side edge, leaving the center open for the Progressive Protector or 4 wheel chocks. I plug in to pedestal, set the basket beside coach and pull coach end up from the center. Sorry if the photo is rotated.

I've got a repurposed keg barrel. Holds my cord and hoses plus adapters and a few ratchet straps.... in a pinch I can use it to drain 10 gals of black water.Click image for larger version.

The buckets, tubs, and crates do solve a storage problem, but you still have to wrestle with a stiff, heavy cord.
