    Removing plastic from. Theater seats...

Has anyone removed the plastic from the foot rests on the theater seat recliners? It's sewn on and I don't see an easy way to remove it. It looks like Thomas Payne advertising. I wouldn't mind it so much if it had no writing.

Better than peeling. The plastic holds up better than the upholstery material.

I removed mine with a pair of scissors. With the foot rest extended, I cut from the back side of the rest.

This is how I removed ours. It's not hard to do, just be careful cutting so you don't damage the footrest. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aR5RlY-H_6c

The manufacturer recommends heating with a hair dryer before you pull it from the stitching. The heat softens the plastic very quickly and it comes away with no damage.

To further confirm what is shared already and noted in post #6 , here's a thread from a few years ago with a link to LCI covering the removal process.....I added the link to LCI as well:

I was just thinking about this yesterday and planning on looking into it. Thanks for posting, and thanks to those who answered with the hairdryer approach. I'll be giving this a shot.
