    Florida diesel search

I am traveling from California and am currently on the Florida keys. I was out today filling up and had a little bit of a time finding diesel. 3rd time was a charm. I did run into a diesel product that I have never seen before and chose to avoid because of the unknown. I found a Mobil station that had diesel a little cheaper and no one in line, sounds good right. When I got the the pump I saw that there product was called "diesel efficient". I couldn't find anything in the pump that would explain the the unique name.

Is this a safe fuel for fords diesel?

Just curious, I may run into to it again in the next few travel months

    Thanks,
    Neal

I never heard of it either.
I'm not necessarily a fan of additives unless it's cold (anti-gel) or the fuel will sit around.
But I would use it if need be.

    I use it ..

You'll notice the engine runs quieter, and has less diesel 'stink'...

I think it gets better fuel economy, but I don't measure my usage that tightly...

I'm assuming it's got a higher cetane rating, and less paraffins than #2 diesel. This will keep the DPF cleaner, which is a good thing...

In the world of modern emissions diesels, it's very good fuel to run.

I found it here in Michigan and filled up once last week. I noticed the pump did not display the low sulphur 15 ppm sticker. That's a concern. I haven't noticed any of the plusses mentioned above, but then again it's only my first tank. I haven't towed the Solitude yet this year. Will the Mobil Diesel Efficient be appropriate for towing?

Mobil or Esso as we know it in Canada, simply calls their diesel 'Diesel Efficient", much the same way as Shell has V-Power, and other brands have their own name. They have their proprietary ingredients or additives in their fuel, just like their competitors do. I use it a fair bit, not exclusively, but I do tend to buy their diesel more than others. Have been doing so for about 3 years now. No issues at all with it.

Shell has a Fuel Rewards App that gives you the location of stations in your area with diesel and the price. I haven't looked, but I'm sure other companies offer the same thing.

I use Gas Buddy app. It will give you all stations with prices in your area or if you want to search another area just enter that zip code. You can choose fuel type.

Does anyone have input on towing using the Mobil/Exxon Diesel Efficient? Again, my concern is the pump does not display the typical Low Sulphur Less Than 15 ppm sticker.
