Plugging 50amp Imagine in at home to run slides out and run refrigerator

Can you safely use an adaptor for the home current? Just to run out the slides and cool down the refrigerator ??

I do mine all the time. 50 amp and adaptor it down to a 10/3 extension cord plugged into a regular wall out. I keep the surge suppressor in line to protect from Florida lightening strikes.

Your slides will work on just the trailer battery 12v.

I read that the shiwintec slide should be used only when plugged in.

If that was true what should the people who boondock do when there is no electric. The slides all work off of 12 volt.

Just saying shwintec systems can be easily damaged by low voltage, or get out of sync.

The Schwintek system has had its share of issues; I know that low voltage is a concern, and batteries that are of poor condition or low may cause issues. This is more of an exception rather than the rule and the system will work just fine on batteries. This system also draws little current; especially when compared to hydraulic systems (50+ amps).

Lithium batteries tend to run at a bit higher voltage, and maintains the higher voltage through most of the discharge cycle (another plus for the lithium batteries when it's time to consider replacing yours).

Out of sync is easily fixed. I doubt low voltage will make it out of sync. Usually is caused by operator error.

The main concern is running the refrigerator on the home current before leaving to camp.

Your fridge will run just fine on a 15A household circuit. I wouldn't attempt to run the AC unit though.

I did this for years, then switched to gas before unplugging just to be sure all was working OK.
I now have a 12V fridge compressor, so no more gas or high current heating element.

Why is that a concern? Many owners cool down the fridge before a trip by plugging in to AC power. It's made to run on either.
