    Leveling & Chocking

If you have to use boards or plastic blocks to get the initial level, how do you then chock the wheels before unhitching? Do you just chock the other side and call it good?

On our Reflection (didn't have auto-leveling), I used pressure-treated 2 x 12 boards that fit under both wheels on the low side and, after running the wheels up on them, banged the chocks into place on top of the boards with a rubber mallet. We also used Anderson levelers when things weren't too out of level and they are "self chocking."

What I use under the tires to obtain level extends beyond beneath the tires which enables me to chock front & rear on both sides each time. I create a platform so to speak, rather than just having the leveling blocks under the tires. The array includes Lynx Levelers, some cut planks, and some cut barn stall mat. The mat (rubber) as a topper really enables the chocks to bite in and stay. And the mix allows for some fine tuning in leveling... barn stall mat is 3/4" thick, Lynx Levelers is 1", and the wood is 1.5" thick.

Short answer is yes. As @Second Chance mentioned, if you use the Anderson it will also choke the side that you need to raise. It's what we use and it works well.

I use BAL X-Chocks (there are many other brands). I turn them upside down so that it is easier to get to the nut and I use a Dewalt 90-degree drill driver, which usually fits nicely between the chocks and the ground (a 90-degree attachment to your normal drill driver would work as well). I have been perched on some pretty tall leveling stacks and have never moved an inch. Just crank 'em down real good and use them on both sides. I have never used normal wheel chocks on my TT. I don't even carry them. Good luck friend!

If one side needs to be lifted I use the Camco 44423 RF Curved Leveler on both tires. I then chock both tires on the other side (no chocks on the raised side) Then put x-chocks between tires on both sides. And as you say, "Call it good!"

I use Andersen levelers on the side that needs it and use rubber chocks on the other side both in front of and in back of the tires so it can't move forward, backward, left or right. Then after The jacks are down, I put my X-Chocks on both sides.

I'd caution against this. The X-Chocks are truly designed to prevent rocking. If you look at the instructions on how to level and stabilize on BAL X Chocks website, even they list as step one, "Place a wedge chock behind each rear tire". I'd want a properly sized wedge on at least one side.

Here is the link to the BAL X page to which I reference: https://balrvproducts.com/howto.shtml#5th
