Hanging Coat Rack on Exterior Wall
Hello,
I'm wondering if y'all have any ideas on how to hang a coat rack on an exterior wall?
I checked for a stud every 1.5" for 24" on the wall and I did not find a single stud to anchor this coat rack into.
Wondering what wall anchors or glue seem to work best from anyone who has hung a rack successfully?
Thanks!!
Casey

Welcome to the forum!
Studs on an RV are not equally spaced and are aluminum. I've mounted a few lighter objects (hooks for keys, dog leashes, etc.) to the thinner walls using traditional wall anchors and works well... but only for lighter items. Would not mount a coat rack that way. Did a search and found a thread from many years ago, however another member on the forum received help locating a stud by calling Grand Design.

The best way to do it would probably be to make something to mount on the ladder.

install your coat hooks on a piece of wood, maybe a 1 by 4 and make it about 16 to 24 inches long. Mark out where you need or want to install it, then make some itty bitty holes along the length, under where you are installing your coat hooks and then install a couple screws into the studs through your hook assembly. then it will be secure and look great too! We have done that in areas where you may only hit one stud, then you have good support. good luck

Misunderstood when you said outside wall, was thinking an outside coat rack.
I agree with ckreef, 3M Command hooks work great and with their removable double stick tape even moreso.TexSon

We use Commander hooks also and really no complaints. They make really nice ones now, solid and can be relocated if need be.
