    2019 F350 Maintenance

Hi all - After a year of ownership, I'm still learning about my truck. I bought it about a year before our trailer arrived and consequently didn't drive it much for that first year. A couple months ago, with the odometer at a little more than 3K, I got a "change the oil" warning. Read thru the manual and it says the truck knows when to change the oil and it'll tell me. So I got the oil changed at 3K miles (and about a year on the factory oil).

Then we got our trailer and the truck has pretty much been towing since. We just got back from a quick trip to Idaho and now the odometer is reading over 10K with about 7K of that towing. I was expecting the "change the oil" to come on at 10K.

Looking at my Ford Pass app, it says I have 34% oil life remaining. But there's also a 10K service package that includes oil change and other things.

Just wonder if after 7K of towing, and now 10K on the odometer, I should have it serviced or should I wait for the truck to tell me when it's time?

    Thanks!

Aren't OLMs wonderful? They use time and mileage and a few other things IIRC.
My stang just dinged me for an OC because it's almost a year but not enough miles IMO, especially since I used synthetic last time. And I didn't drive for 2 months of this year interval!
Wish I knew more about the 6.7s to answer you but maybe somebody knowledgeable will pipe in here soon.
On my old skool 7.3, I change every 4-5k miles.

I would change it, especially if you towed through the Rockies. I changed my last two diesels at 5K miles and plan to do the new one also. I just use the Motorcraft oil, 15W40 for now with infrequent towing I do. Ford says 5W40 synthetic if towing regularly. I figure why not, oil is cheap but that $20K engine is not!

I am in the "service is cheaper than replacement" camp. Oil change every 5000 miles, fuel filters every 10, 000 miles. My truck doesn't sit around enough to ever meet the time requirements.

Like Jeff, I change the oil every 5K miles regardless - but our truck is used almost 100% for towing. It never makes it to a year without getting 5,000 more miles on it.

I have a 2015 F350 dually Powerstroke. I change oil and all filters every 5,000 miles. I use Rotella full syn. 5/40. I consider this a lot cheaper then a new engine. I also have all the fluids in the drive assembly changed every 40,000 mile. Our Solitude is heavy.

Got the oil and fuel filters changed. I’m curious about the tire rotation though. My Ford service guy says don’t bother on this dually as the wheels are different. Any thoughts?

All that can be done on a DRW truck is to rotate side-to-side. If I'm not having tire wear issues (which I haven't), I don't worry about rotation.
