    Planning for slide out obstacles

I just wanted to share a small trick I started using with the new-to-us 2600RB.

Our old trailer slide out was ~18” so we didn’t worry much about obstacles, but the 2600RB is 38” so it’s now much more likely we’ll park too close to a power pole or tree when setting up.

I had a good sized 16” heavy duty traffic cone from Home Depot left over from another purpose, so now, when I do the walk-around before backing in (or pulling through), I take a yard stick and the cone with me. Stick + cone is 40-42” or so. The cone is placed inside the obstacle and when I park it, I keep the tires inside the traffic cone.

It really saved my bacon on one trip, with a tricky pull-through down a steep hill. I would NOT have liked to re-park that setup.

Not a bad idea, we usually just do a visual guess and have been lucky
