    Backsplash ideas

I would like to put a backsplash around the bathroom sink and if that works out the kitchen counter top. I was in Home depot and the nice lady showed me two types of stick on panels, I don't recall the names now. Both were about 8" on the short end. One was interlocking at the ends but had no corner trim to hide cut ends. The other were rectangular pieces about 16" which would show butt ends but it had corner trim pieces made for it. I wasn't crazy about the color / pattern choices either but then I was going from memory, not pictures or a sample.
If anyone has ventured into this project and has input or ideas, I'd like to hear them. Also how does the adhesive stick and hold up on the "wallpaper".

If you use the search function for "backsplash" you will see plenty of topics that discuss this. There should be plenty of pictures as well. If I recall, the tiles are called Smart Tiles.

Also if you go online to the smart tiles website there are many more patterns. There are a couple of other brands also but I have no experience with those. I have only installed the Smart Tile brand.

Smart tiles are the way to go. We put the tiles up 4 yrs ago both behind the stove, back of the hutch, covered the island bead board and in the bathroom and they are holding strong. Clean the wall paper with alchohol ( I used denatured) then stick away. Like Sandi suggested go to Smart Tiles web site. More to pick from and some good sales on occasion on old patterns.

Hi, Marcy and Gary. Would you have the time to post pictures of your hutch and island? I'd like to see how they look with the tile. Thanks in advance.

Here are a few shots , one thing I really like is that dog hair does not stick to the tile like it does to the bead board on the island

Another recommendation for SmartTiles. I installed as backsplash in the bathroom. Was able to butt them against the corner trim on both sides without need of any finishing trim. I went all the way to the ceiling and was able to slide behind the medicine cabinet on one side by loosening the mounting screws. homedepot.com has a very large selection with free shipping.
