    Cool Hello from Arkansas!

I've been watching this forum for some time and realized I had never joined. Love all the (intended) help and information that is provided here. Bought a used 2005 Trail Lite in 2017 to see if we were cut out for the RV lifestyle. Guess we were as we bought a new 2018 Grand Design 2600RB the next year. I've been lucky as I've not had any major issues. The one thing I just now fixed (I know, after three years, right?) was the door latch not catching properly. After really looking at it better, I found that the strike plate was put on upside down and about an inch too high for the deadbolt to engage fully. And then I realized there was not even any space for the deadbolt to go in to! Lol! Can't believe I went all this time without really looking at it. But a drill bit and a hammer made things a lot better...

    Welcome from North Carolina!
My striker plate didn't have those problems, but I did have to adjust and shave the side some to get the latches to engage without the need to slam the door.
    Safe travels and happy memories!

My wife and I purchased a new 2670MK and have had nothing but problems with our door and I came to the same conclusion that the strike plate is upside down. A small punch and a hammer along with lowering the plate should remedy it. Curious as I have found several threads about this………

Makes you kind of wonder if it’s done on purpose and the dealer is supposed to correct before delivery. It seems way too common.
