    Verizon recalls Ellipsis Jetpack

We had decided to tryout using the jetpack and got the low end Ellipsis Jetpack as a test so to speak 2 years ago. It usually worked ok so we hadn't upgraded. (we will now, been talkin 'bout it any)
Now 2 yrs later it starts misbehaving badly so started to do a little research and found that this is a recalled item due to firehazard...
Verizon never notified us this was recalled...thank you vzn so my guess is no one got notified. Maybe they would rather see someones house or trailer burn down than send out notification to 2.5 million customers.

Whew.....had me worried for a few seconds there. I have a Verizon Jetpack also, but it's not the Ellipsis model. Mine is the 8800L?

The 8800L seems to be a solid piece of equipment. We've used one for about three years now without any issues at all. I keep the charger on a timer to top it off twice a day so it doesn't overcharge and swell the battery like our 6620 did.

Yes Rob, I've been quite satisfied with mine too. Before I retired last year, I took it to work with me everyday and turned it on in the morning when I got to work....about 5:30AM and left it on all day long till it was time to leave...around 4PM and I usually still had at least 30 to 35% battery left. It now serves as our camping MiFi hotspot and the only thing I'll probably add to it is a suction cup mounted external antennae for the times our Verizon signal is just a little weak. It's been great so far and I love having the unlimited plan with it.

The 8800 is what we're going to go get probably tomorrow. The free replacement is on the way sometime and vzn already cut off the ellipsis without notification... But of course left the number active so they can get our 20 bucks. We may reactivate the new replacement hot spot as well
Our unlimited is an old shared plan and all we would have to pay is the 20 access fee , we would gain another 15 gigs of so called unlimited hot spot doing that...
