    Metal skirt doorside

I tried to post this on the "Exterior Imagine" forum, received no replies. So . . .
Has anyone else had lower skirt tear away from brackets?
Noticed in my mirror that the skirt was really flapping as I was traveling down the highway. I pulled over and saw that the thin metal had worn through in 2 strap locations. I keep Gorilla Tape handy and able to stabilize the skirt until I take it to the dealer in a few weeks.
Is there any way to "beef-up" the braces to prevent this happening again?

While I didn't find them torn away as you say, I did find several that were never attached with screws so the skirt was moving. If there is movement and contact that allows the two surfaces to rub and wear. Also since your trailer is relatively new I would take some pictures and make a claim with Grand Design. You wouldn't believe how much that piece of sheet metal costs.

Over the years, I have seen this on many brands with tall J-wraps. A replacement and more struts to reduce the stress and fatigue of the aluminum.

If you're talking about the lower brackets that go between the frame and skirt, then yes. I've had broken screws on my Reflection and Momentum. My theory is that when they install all of these fasteners there is no torque limiting device used. I cant tell you how many broken screw heads were on my Momentum, more than half of the heads broke on my floor anchors before I even used them. It seems better on my Reflection, but I've still found a handful.

I have the same broken screw heads in skirting on my '19 grand design. How did you fix this issue?
