5th Wheel Friendly Gas Stations - Toronto to Winnipeg - Trans Canada Highway
I am trying to plan our trip from Ontario to Manitoba in July. I am having difficulty searching gas stations that can handle 5th wheels along the route. Has anyone developed a trip planner to stop along this route for gas stations. I have contacted CAA (for a trip planner) Flying J, A/T, Husky, and Pilot . There are very few locations with RV friendly gas stations. CAA did not have a list of "5th wheel" related gas station stops along the way ( just general stations for cars ).
Has anyone taken this route and has a list of the stations they stopped at and were pleased with the height and ability to get in and out.

I don’t know of a list or planning tool, but Google Maps is helpful. You can see what the layout is for potential stops along the way and even use street view to take a look at entrances/exits and canopies.

Most stations outside city centers should be OK. Specially along the 17. Like others mentioned, use can use Google and street view to plan ahead.

I would stick with using Truck Stops. Generally speaking, they have large forecourts for their gas pumps and their canopies are usually very tall. Many Flying "J" stations had special pumps designed for RVs with easy access. If you choose the smaller, non-Truck Stop, stations along the way, that is where you will probably find the smaller stations with maneuverability issues.
When I was pulling with a Gas Tow Vehicle, I rarely had an issue with the Truck Stop Gas Pumps because of too small a forecourt.David and Peggy

If you are looking for travel speed, consider the northern route through northern Ontario. It is a touch longer but much quicker time wise - watch out for moose in the early morning & evenings.
The lake route is much more scenic but twistier and hilly with too few (IMO) passing lanes so people can become impatient with RV's and pass in sketchy spots. Don't leave Sault Ste Marie without filling up, there are a few rig friendly stations at the west end of town.
I remember a decent truck stop in White River and there is a Fly J just east of Thunder Bay at Pass Lake. You will be able to find a roadside station in Ignace next. They are not huge but I can get in and out and I'm 73' long. And the trans-Canada has a speed limit of 50kmh through Ignace so you will be going slow and can pick out the station ahead of time. There will be one on the right just before you leave town - don't remember the brand. We usually stop at Falcon Lake CG in MB when headed that way. Nice beach and there is a bakery on site with excellent bread and pastries.2018 Dodge 3500 6.7 Cummins SRW w/Aisin
