    Departure/Arrival checklist

A holdover habit from my aviation days, but I really like checklists, especially when tasks are new and/or unfamiliar. Since our 375RES-R is our first RV, we’ve developed the attached. Included here in case it’s helpful for someone. Appreciate improvements as well.

That's a good list. Why faucets open on departure?

I do this when driving home to end the season to allow the low point drains to drain
Allows air in behind the water

I use RV Checklist (for Android) on my phone. It's customizable (I built ours from scratch and uploaded it). You check off each task as you complete it and can clear the list for the next time around. I only use a pre/departure checklist, but you could add on or create a separate one for arrival. Prior to arrival, I just use "GUMCP" - gas, undercarriage, mixture, cowl flaps and prop... oh, sorry - that's not for the RV.

I started with one from Chad and Tara @ChangingLanes.com and customized it to our Solitude. I've attached the starting list as a template, probably most useful for Momentum owners. If anyone would like the customized Solitude one we made just hollar.

I run this on my iPad and check things off as I complete each...probably overkill but it's saved me from process mistakes several times.

This is a t-24 hour, t-12, t-0, hitching, and camping list by tab, so kind of makes it easier to quickly review depending on what activity we're doing.

Exactly. It’s when I call for my clearance prior to departure that I confuse everyone.

“Solitude - cleared as filed to wherever, keep it between the ditches and squawk Willy Nelson”.

Just to avoid creating a suction when I open the low point drains. If that’s overkill, happy to learn from those of you whom actually know what you’re doing.

Do you drain your water system every trip? Seems overkill for sure. That would only really be needed for winterizing and dewinterizing.

Just watched Chad & Tara’s vlog on sanitizing fresh water systems. If I understood them correctly, they now recommend keeping your tank dry if you are not going to be using it for an extended period; I speculate they mean periods as short as weeks at a time. I believe the reason is to avoid letting any bacteria take root?

    More checklist exemplars!

Hi all, just to pile on, I use the two attached checklists to ensure I don't forget anything. Find that I am updating them after virtually every trip as I'm still fairly new and learning stuff all the time. Incorporating items from others' lists as I speak ...

Use or discard as you see fit!
