Plastic kitchen sink in Imagine 2970RL 2021

We have a plastic kitchen sink. The Grand Design website clearly states a stainless steel kitchen sink is standard. Brand new 2021, customer service is trying to claim it's stainless, and we did a magnet test. It's plastic. Very disappointed in Grand Design's response.

Magnet test does not work on Stainless. Will not attract to true stainless. How do you know its plastic?

It has all the characteristics of plastic, no metal characteristics whatsoever. Unlike the stainless steel sink in the bathroom. Which sounds and responds like metal. The magnet sticks to it as well.

It is likely stainless, I saw SS304 on the sticker. SS304 is a type of stainless steel used for kitchen sinks & appliances. There could be a paint type of coating on the bottom that covers the metal. GD seems to be a pretty stand up company, so I'm more inclined to think they did you right.

    Happy camping,

Magnets will not stick to type 304 stainless steels. They're the highest nickel content and highest corrosion resistance.

Good quality stainless is not magnetic. That a magnet sticks to your bathroom sink indicates that it is in fact metal, but also that it’s low-grade stainless which is actually pretty common. I would not expect to find high-quality stainless in any RV selling for less than $100K, so your non-magnetic kitchen sink likely not stainless, but also maybe not plastic either - there are a lot of “composites” available today.
