    Smoke alarm for hearing impaired

Here is the problem. My hearing is very poor especially in the high frequency range that most smoke alarm use. I would like to find a battery operated smoke alarm that has a strobe light with it. Or if anyone out there has another approach...

I just did some research and it appears that battery powered and strobe light are mutually exclusive (at least I couldn't find one). One model that is 120VAC powered with battery backup specifically states that the battery will only operate the smoke alarm - not the strobe light. My guess is that strobe lights require more power than a small battery is capable of.

All the strobe lights I have seen are hardwired for 120v or 12v (or even 120v plug in). I haven't seen a battery as primary ADA compliant with strobe. There are some DIY options with home automation you might be able to put together depending on your technology comfort level.

Yes it looks like they are all hardwired. This one has a light that comes on but not a strobe.
