Roofing questions 2020 Grand Design Transcend 31RLK

So lazy days inspected my roof on my 2020 grand design transcend 31RLK
They said they noted multiple voids / cracks in the sealant ? I thought the roof was TPO but read the transcend is the only model they used pvc . We have owned this (ordered brand new in summer 2019
Less than two years old and already this ? We’ve been very disappointed in our first Grand Design
It has had multiple construction and build issues which include now the roof flaws
Now lazy days wants you to charge over $1400 to scrape and repair the issues
Most of that is labor as the xtreme ply is only $11.99 per tube and it needs 10 tubes
Is this something the roof warranty should cover ? Any recommendations ?
    Between broken shower doors
    Shower wall buckling
Water lines not connected correctly and coming off days after we received it
    Walls on cabinets coming off
    Fridge control board going bad
Screws not even tightened all the way on the panels outside
    Wheel skirt not aligned

We are just very perplexed how grand design who has such a great rep allowed these issues to happen

    Oh well vent over

Any advice on roofing is greatly appreciated
    Thank you

You should have been up there at least 10 times by now applying sealant as part of your roof maintenance

Huh ? 10 times in less than two years on a travel trailer that is outside in the elements 4 weeks out of a year ?
Have had 3 other travel trailers sunnybrook, Forrest river and a jayco
Only had to have inspected and sealed once per year at most
So now it’s 10 times per year - wow that seems excessive
Thank you for the advice though

Every 90 days you should inspect the roof and apply sealant where needed
Doesn’t matter if it is used a short time or a long time

Give GD a call. I know your outside warranty but maybe they can work something. They do recommend to go up there periodically to inspect.

Unsure why they feel they need to remove sealant first
Sounds like they are trying to make a 100 dollar job into a 1400 job
Get a second opinion if you don’t want to do it yourself

I'm not the most experienced RV owner, but I know to and already plan on checking the roof often. Maybe not 10 times in 2 years are required, but once a quarter isn't a bad idea. In the end, I will go up there to clean it up before I close the slides each time, so I'll be up there more often than needed anyway and I'll keep an eye on it.

It getting that bad before you noticed it sounds like you hadnt checked it much. Hard to hold GD accountable for that.

Probably comes across harsh, but that's not my intention. Some of your issues sound like real issues (water pipes coming disconnected), some sound like it's not anyone's fault and it's just life (fridge panel going bad - for sure not GDs fault), and some sounds a little nitpicky.

Maybe I'm just used to owning boats where stuff is always breaking so I am just used to fixing things... even on new stuff.

    Thank you everyone
    I truly appreciate it
Actually we have inspected the roof and slides on every trip we’ve been on
This is our third roof inspection we had a dealer do (last inspected in nov 2020) been tough to get into rv dealer with covid stuff
We were actually very surprised that lazy days “found” these issues
We intend to get a second opinion for sure
As far as the other issues - I do feel they are all very important and concerning
    A drawer coming apart
    A cabinet continuously falling apart
A shower wall buckling and coming off
    A shower door coming apart
The fridge / I get it - Norcold Chinese parts
    Pipes coming off
Screws on outside panels coming out at delivery of brand new unit ?
Sorry that all screams poor workmanship
We love our transcend and I’m not here to ruffle gd owner feathers but we have heard and researched so much about grand design rv travel trailers and we’re just shocked at these issues - nitpicking ? Maybe but when you set expectations higher due to the brand name and price tags - it just surprises ya
As far as roof goes maybe lazy days are playing games
    Who knows
Maybe we will just replace roof with armor roofing or similar
    Thanks again

You should be able to spot Lazy Days is trying to take advantage of you. Tending to lap sealant is standard, routine camper maintenance and I seriously doubt you need (or would get) full removal and resealing! I have seen too many owners taken advantage of by dealer service centers! If you cannot do it, have an independent technician have a look. I wager two tubes of sealant and 1.5 hours is what is really needed. GD neither makes the membrane nor the sealant. They just assemble with it. As long as the membrane was laid properly. It will be trouble free. Also, lap sealant is generally not the primary sealant for roof fixtures and detailing. It's generally the secondary. For instance, skylights are set with butyl tape and lap sealant applied at the edge.

Edit: I see your frustrated by other posts, but get a second opinion as it's likely driven by a bad dealer service center. Before you hammer me, I manufacturer millions of square feet of membranes every year.

This is my first Grand Design and it is a great trailer for us and the only time I had to contact customer service it was stellar service but I hear this all the time from here and Facebook forums that GD is a “step above” or people expect more
I don’t get this and didn’t buy for these reasons. I bought because of features but in my opinion GD is still entry level and they are priced much cheaper than many
My previous Jayco had much better cabinetry and finishes. The cabinets in my 2021 are cheap and already warping but it doesn’t matter because they work
Sorry to get off topic but just have noticed this in the past and I don’t understand it

    Goodluck with your roof
