Road Conditions in Michigan and Wisconsin?

We are spending the summer traveling in Michigan and Wisconsin mostly on Interstates. What conditions can we expect? The roads in Ohio have been quite rough.

Where in Michigan? My experience has been anything north of Lansing is pretty good. I-69 from Lansing to Marshall is a hot mess, I-94 from Battle Creek to Ann Arbor isn't much better.

I-75, near Detroit, is a nightmare. They run trucks way to heavy for the road and beat it to pieces. We went north and I thought that the cabinets would be on the floor when we arrived. That was at a top speed of 50, on an interstate. I refuse to use that road ever again, and we came back using state highways that were in much better condition.

We’ll be on i-75 up to Sault Ste Marie and then State roads to Green Bay. What alternate route alongside I-75 is recommended? Silverado 2500HD with 33’ GD 5th wheel.

I75 in Detroit area has some heavy construction. If coming up I75 through Ohio you can catch I475 just before Toledo. Take that around to I23 n. That will take you up to I75 in Flint. The road will be in better shape and might even be a little faster. After catching I75 in Flint the road shouldn't be in bad shape. Not having to deal with that traffic in Detroit will be a bonus.

Thank you! We will take your suggestion and use Route 23 from Toledo to Flint. This was very helpful.
