    Pantry light strip.

Well, it's time to post another mod I did a week ago. This one is a light strip in the pantry with a light switch so it turns in when the door is opened. I connected the light strip to the light in the ceiling and ran it down the inside of the molding. Here is the parts list:

The light strip used a 2.1mm, center pin positive, power connector. I just used an old AC adapter and cut the cord off of it. The light strip is also cut to length and had an adhesive backing. Super easy and simple!Click image for larger version.

I want to do the same in our 295RL. Quick question: how did you access the wiring for the existing light and motion detector? I’m hesitant to just jerk on the existing light; don’t want to break anything. Thanks.

The cover of that light (not a motion sensor light) just twists off, then there are two screws that need to be removed to pull the fixture down. On the motion sensor lights, the opaque cover over the LED assembly pops off and there are three screws there. My pantry only had the push-button light.

Did you ever do the pantry light strip mod on your rig? If so, do have any pictures showing how you connected to the motion sensor light?

I don’t have pics, but, basically, I did the following:
    1. Removed the light cover.
    2. Took out the three screws holding the light in place.
    3. Using 12v wiring that I ordered online, spliced into the wiring to the light. (Note: I ordered a wiring connector kit that had splice connectors, wiring connectors, etc.)
    4. Notched the edge of the light so that the wiring could run out of it to the front of the pantry.
    5. Reinstalled the light and the light covers.
    6. Ran the 12v wiring to a switch as previously posted.
    7. Attached the wiring and peel-n-stick light strips as previously posted.
    8. Secured all wiring to the roof of the pantry and the back of the door wall.
A fairly simple installation, and it works like a champ. The LED strips are operated by the switch rather than by the motion detector. Gets plants of light without the motion light turned on, but we usually leave it the motion light turned on anyway. Hope this helps.
