    Forum Question

    Hi All
    Mr. Low tech here

How do I respond to a post on the forum. There are times I would like to reply to questions asked, but am too low tech to know how to do so

    Thanks

Looking at your profile, I see that you have responded to a number of posts... I don't understand your question?

To reply to a post in an existing thread, which is what I am doing here, click on either the "reply" or the "reply with quote" on the bottom right of any post. Then type your reply. When done, hit the "Post quick reply" button just below and to the right of your reply.

The difference between "Reply" and "Reply with quote" is the latter will copy and quote the single post you are replying to. That is what I did here, and you can see your original post copied to my reply. That is what is recommend so people know what you are replying to and with some lengthy threads there gets to be multiple sub-topics being discussed. Having the quoted reference makes it easier to understand.

To start a new thread in an existing category, go to Forum (button ion the top left), select the category (like Hobbies), scroll down to the bottom and select "Post new thread" and start typing your post. When done, select "Submit new thread" button in the bottom right corner. Note, there are a few categories (Admin, Reference library, and ???) that as a normal user you can only read but not post in.

    Hope this helps.
Keep asking questions. This is a great group of helpful people.
Some times I feel like I have the sting, but forgot the tin can

I think that as a very new user (low post count or low time since joining?) some posts (in certain categories?) have to be reviewed and approved by a moderator before they are posted. I know some forums work that way. This helps cut down on span/adds. Not sure about here. As you can tell I do not know the answer. Hopefully one of our great moderators can chime in and set me straight (I would like to know). If you ever have a question or a problem, or see an issue you can click the black triangle in the bottom left of every post to send a private note to the moderators. They will get back to you and have always been very helpful to me. Keep in mind the moderators are all volunteers and it may take a day or so to get a reply.

    Chris, great explanation, thanks !
That's correct, but have not had any posts by BogeyBoy held in moderation that I have seen. My guess is that the post button did not get hit, I've noticed some of the spots to click are picky on exactly
    where they are clicked.

BoogeyBoy, If the replies do not show up reload the page and return to the post window . Click in the window and in the bottom left of the window in the gray area will be a tab that says "restore auto-saved content" click on that and the last post you typed should appear in the window. Select post reply and it should show up
