Orange Flames when using Kitchen Stove?
I thought I should post this in hopes that it will save someone else a lot of time and trouble...
Problem:
You notice the flames from your stove are orange instead of the usual blue.
Standard Solution (works for nearly everyone):
2 hours spent on Google and YouTube and scouring through various RV forums trying to figure out the issue.
Work Completed:
Another hour to 2 hours spent on a rigorous visual inspection of all LP parts and the complete disassembly
and cleaning of your stove to like-new condition.
Outcome 1:
Your stove works as it should now! That means it just had spiderwebs, dirt, grease, or "gunk"
in a place where oxygen should have been traveling.
Outcome 2:
Your stove is very clean now but it still burns with orange flames.
Short of buying a new stove or replacing the regulator outside by the LP tanks, I decided to look at the issue as if I were Dr. House {or Dr. Who}.
I've been cooking on this stove about twice a day for 3 years now. I cooked on it last night and the flames were blue.
So WTF is different today? But I was stuck in trouble-shooting mode, so I was only looking at LP-related or stove-related issues.
Is it bad propane? I switched tanks, no effect. I don't get it. So what's the craziest explanation?
Oddball Solution: (The kind of weird crap that could only happen to me)
After a few minutes of pondering and scratching my head, I walked into the bathroom and turned off the aromatherapy humidifier thingamajig my wife brought home yesterday, which has been running all night long! Sure, it makes the place smell nice, but apparently the little invisible particles that smell of "lemongrass" are actually airborne and now burning up at the stove, causing the mysterious orange flames!
As soon as I turned off the "aromatherapy diffuser/humidifier/fog machine of doom" and opened the door for a few minutes, the flames went back to a nice pretty blue.
"But DaveMatthewsBand, Carbon Monoxide burns orange too! What if you're actually being poisoned by CO and that's what is causing the issue?"
Great question, fictitious person!
In order to make absolutely sure this device was the culprit, I took it into the kitchen, sat it on the counter and turned it on. Almost immediately the stove flames were orange again.

The real question about using the lemon grass smelling fog machine of doom - who wants to add humidity to the inside of a camper? Most people use a dehumidifier to remove humidity.

I do. It's dry here. We live in Arizona and the humidity is typically about 8% here almost year round. So I'd say "What humidity"?
Even when we were camping in Oregon on the coast for the entire summer we never had any problems at all in our Reflection, caused by humidity.
As far as I'm concerned humidity is of no concern whatsoever.Resistance is Not Futile, It's Voltage Divided by Current.
