Foldable mattress support
We just acquired a Momentum 29G which comes with a mattress that has to fold in half when the slides are pushed in. Not sure how many of the Grand Design models has this "feature" but for us, it puts a little low spot in the mattress right along my lower back when laying down. Before we get creative with stuffing some sort of blanket or pillow combination underneath it (or even replacing the entire mattress), I was just curious to know if anybody else had already figured out some way to compensate for it? We did get a foam topper for it which helped a little but not completely. Thanks.

A large number of RV owners - regardless of brand of RV - find the OEM mattresses to be unsatisfactory no matter what they try. Since foam mattresses such as Tuft & Needle, Casper, and mattresses from MattressInsider.com come compressed in a box anyway, I would think they would be well-suited to your application. You might research in that direction.

Much appreciated. I was already leaning towards total replacement so thanks for the confirmation. Also plagiarized your signature a little so thanks for getting me started.

Hello- I'm curious if you found a decent folding mattress? We're in the same situation with the need to fold it when our slide is retracted.
Thanks, Steve

Check out TerryH in the mods. Did his mattress and bed mod in our 21G except we went back with a rv queen to get some more room between the bathroom door and the bed. Gained about 6 inches of room. I’m 6’1” and didn’t notice any difference between the two mattresses.

The stock mattress is like sleeping on a sheet of plywood!

I've been scratching around trying to find the post you suggested with no luck. Would you please send me the link, or tell me what was done? Sorry for the inconvenience, but I really would appreciate it!

Search 31G toy hauler on you tube by Terry Hatfield. He has a video on how to do it, and his other mods.

Don’t know how to post a link, but it is on page 6 of the DIY section titled Let the modding begin on our 31G.
