New feature - Right side Display
In the next day you will begin to see a new column on the right side of the page that will include a new posts and new threads feed. For forum regulars it should be a handy shortcut to find recent content.

Janet,
Can you explain a bit more about which threads show up?
I just finished reading "new posts" after being offline for a few (too many) days (8 pages) and then selected "mark forums read". Then the main forum page showed up (normal action) and I saw the right hand column and it had entries. But, in my case, to read but there were some threads in the right hand list. So I was wondering which threads show up there.
Thanks.Larry KE4DMG

Is there a way to eliminate the Sidebar?
In my case I view the threads on a PC and the threads appear as one inch wide columns that are very tall and narrow that need to be read almost vertically.
I want to be able to toggle it off in my settings versus every time I log in.
For example: I am currently viewing this in Firefox, what appears on my screen is the left half of the screen shows the forum and the right half shows the new threads (until you scroll down past the bottom of the New Threads, then the right half of the screen is blank). The left half includes the scroll bars and the frame for the window. This leaves about 40% of the screen to display the actual forum. Couple this with the "Reply With Quote" button and the quoted portion of the reply is displayed inside of a one inch column.
Please provide a "Toggle Off" for this feature.
PS: if you want to make New Threads easier to view, maybe you could create a larger button (larger than the existing button) that takes you to the existing new threads screen.David and Peggy

Please tell me there is a way to "disable" this new feature in my settings (so it is in effect every time I log in) and how to do it.
I agree with @SolarPoweredRV, it takes up way to much real estate. In my case (with my typical window width about 25%). In longer threads, this area (after the threads) is just blank. I can collapse the right side display, but then the area is just blank.
Thank you

Janet - appreciate you all considering forum modifications for various reasons, However, as a long time forum user, I agree with the comments shared by others here that the new addition of the side bar does not add value for me either. If I could, I would disable it as well to gain back the full screen for the posts narrative.

I agreee with the comments above. I use my phone or tablet , rare that I use a desktop or laptop. This new bar makes viewing difficult on smaller screens. I see it can collapse but even collapsing it still takes up the same space.
I don't know how it looks on the mobile view and likely never will because I'm not a fan of the mobile view platform.Marcy & Gary

OK. I must be odd, I like the feature and it does not bother me on a laptop, tablet or PC with 24 or 32 inch monitors
I left the Forum due to dictatorial administration

For those viewing on small devices... the forum has a mobile view. You can find it by scrolling down to the bottom of the page and looking over to the left for this box:
Select mobile from the drop down options.
If you decide you don't like the mobile view go back to the bottom of the page and select "full site"
You'll find the format is leaner, loads faster and is nice for a small device however some forum tolls aren't available on the mobile view - for basic posting and reading however it's pretty goodYou have brains in your head.
