    Trip to Toronto Canada

Well, I am finally planning my trip to Toronto. I have a son and his family that live there, including a grandaughter that will be two in November that I haven't yet seen due to covid (other than video or pictures).

We are probably going in Aug. or Sept......so, any tips or tricks to pulling a 5'r across the boarder?

I am pulling from Wichita Kansas and am going to do Toronto, then go over into Michigan, around the north end into Wisconsin and home. Anyone one from the Michigan or Wisconsin area that can give me some favorite campgrounds? We want to travel from Detroit area to Traverse city, up to Mackinaw, around into Wisconsin.....might stay north and ride along Lake Superior before heading south towards Des Moines and home.

Sorry for long post, but any campgrounds, advice pulling across the boarder, must see sites in Michigan or Wisconsin?

    Regards
    Ray

Just make sure you check what items are not allowed to cross (some food, plants, weapons)

Also any criminal past including dui of all attempting to cross will be questioned and person will not be permitted to enter

    Enjoy the trip

My brother has a son in Toronto as well that has a 1 year old that he hasnít seen yet due to the lockdowns

Make sure the border is open before you leave home. They decide month to month if they are going to open and it's currently closed until third week in July. We live on St. Lawrence River and can't even float our boat in Canadian waters.

As for campgrounds, friends have stayed at Sleeping Giant Provincial Park in Thunder Bay and loved it. We've stayed at Bronte Creek Provincial Park in Oakville, then took the GO Train to downtown Toronto. That's the only way I'd every camp near TO.

Not sure where in Toronto you are heading but as @nisbitch mentioned, best to leave the 5ier in the outskirts of TO. I wouldn't want to be caught in the dense parts of TO with a large rig. Sure its possible but...
Just some rally beautiful landscaping and area just north of Toronto like the Muskoka, Barrie, Blue Mountain, Rice Lake....
Covid hard on some Grand-Parents and families. Sure glad is coming to an end.

Good tips so far. Do make sure you notify you vehicle and camper insurers. Not every provider automatically covers you when traveling across the border.

While I agree with what was previously said about Sleeping Giant provincial park, it is very nice, but it is over 1600km from Toronto.
But I'm going to recommend a park not super close as well. Sandbanks Provincial park at the other end of Lake Ontario. Great beaches and sand dunes.

I went down the 401 pulling our 5th wheel....not a fan. Washington beltway was better.

We stayed in Milton when we were visiting Hamilton/Toronto.
