Should My Awning Touch My Slide Out

My wife and I purchased a new 2021 Reflections 312BHTS travel trailer in April 2021, our first camper. Yesterday we opened the awning for the first time and the awning is touching the slide out to where it looks like it will rub a hole. Is there something I’m doing wrong, or need to adjust to fix this?

If it were mine, I'd only extend and retract the awning with slide-out extended. Then use something like a pool noodle on the edges of the slide out to prevent any holes or tears.

Happens all the time across brands and models. You could put a roller on the slide or use a pool noodle to cushion. Nonetheless, you should do something to protect the fabric.

On the awning sides, most can be adjusted. Perhaps it needs to be raised a couple of notches.
