Your limiting condition will probably be keeping the tongue weight under 1200 lbs which is the maximum for the Class IV hitch receiver on the F150.

I just pulled my 308 with a 2017 F150 with the bigger Ecoboost and the max trailer tow package. Equalizer hitch. A short trip of about 4 hours each way. No problems running 65, no real sway issues. Gas mileage was about 8.8..... And I try to keep it as light as possible....

I just purchased a used 17’ 308bhts. I’m curious what your loaded tongue weight is? I’m thinking of getting the blue ox WD hitch with 1500# bars, overkill??

That is probably rated a little high, but unless there is a large price uplift between the 1500 and the next model down, I would go with the 1500. Better to be over than under in the stability game.

I don't know what kind of truck you have, but it is CRITICAL to be level. Bags are cheap and honestly easy to install. Good luck!

The 1500# is less expensive than the step down currently. I have not purchased a TV yet, am thinking the 3/4 ton GM with the 6.0 gas. I will be moving it to my winter spot in the glades with a buddy’s f250 6.4l. I have a few months to decide on a tow vehicle.

I had a 3/4 ton Suburban with the 6.0. Handled it just fine.
