New Torque Wrench
My torque wrench died on Friday. It had a good and long life. Traveled with me all the way from California in 1997.
In case anyone needs one I just picked up a new one at Home Depot. Husky 1/2 inch drive 50 to 250 ft/lb. +/- 3% accuracy. $49.97 ($30.00 off).
The only time I use a torque wrench is for the trailer so I didn't want to spend a lot, but didn't want to buy a cheap one that may not be very accurate.

I've had good results with the same one. I have it in 1/4", 3/8", and 1/2" drive for various applications. They are usually on sale around black friday.

Thanks for the info....I just purchased it a few minutes ago. I have an old Craftsman beam type torque wrench that was my father's and it's probably 50 years or more older. The problem with the beam style wrench for me was that it just isn't very easy to torque to a setting that you want...plus, this one is a 1/2" drive but it only goes to 150 ft lbs. I'll pick it up tomorrow when I run into town to do some errands.

What do you folks prefer if you need to check torque on your tires? Dating myself but my old SK half inch drive is beam type and only up to 150 ft. lbs. It was a bit longer than some of the click types I've seen which would seem like a good thing to get up to 220 ft lbs.

As I mentioned above, I too bought the Husky 1/2 drive that goes to 250 ft. lbs. My Momentum lug nuts gets snugged up to 120 ft. lbs, but if I need to do the wheels on the Dually, they need to be set to 165 ft. lbs. I like the new Huskey Torque wrench and have used it on my trailer wheels a couple of times already.....just checking to make sure that all is well before a trip with Big Mo loaded up pretty good.
