Fuel tank on a Solitude 310GK.

We are looking to add a 20 gallon fuel tank and a gasoline Onan on our 310GK.
    Anyone try this yet?

Why wouldn't you add a Propane powered Generator? It would be easier to install and you could easily run hoses from the Propane tanks to the generator since they are so close.

Additionally, if you want to, you could up size your tanks to 40 lb tanks for longer run time.

Stopping with 8,000 lb Disc Brakes and Titan Hydraulic over Electric Brakes system.
Powering all this fun with 1200 Watts of Solar, two Tesla, Model S, battery modules, 24 volt Victron Inverter.

Assuming that everything is going to go in the front compartment, I would not be comfortable with a gasoline tank underneath the front bedroom area. Gasoline is more volatile and has a lower flash point than diesel. If I were to install a generator, it would be a propane generator as @SolarPoweredRV recommends.

The issue is that if you ran on a 1/2 load with 2- 40lb tanks of propane.... you could use up your propane in 23 1/2 hours (running one 1 a/c).

If you ran on a 1/2 load with a 20 gal fuel (gas) tank... estimated... you would use it up in 25 hours.

It is much easier to refill a gas tank than carry spare propane tank. (And then have propane to use for frig and stove).

Anyway... that's our thinking... but open to other ideas.

Many thousands of gas powered Motor homes are out there. They have a pretty good track record.

OTH, About 20 years ago DW and I were first responders to a propane explosion. It was horrific. Also a friend of ours. Took him two weeks to die.. Yes I still use propane. ANY fuel needs to be treated with respect. If an explosion occurs, it doesn't matter if you are sleeping or not...In fact distance isn't even much of a factor. That propane explosion sent debri 300 yards.

The fuel tanks on those gas motorhomes are external - not in a poorly-ventilated compartment. I'm just saying I wouldn't do it.

The only person here talking about putting fuel tanks in the front compartment is you.
No fuel should be stored there. Propane or gas...... Even the FLA batteries need to be isolated/vented.

It would take a fair amount of modification to put in anywhere else underneath on a 310GK, wouldn't it? Where are the fuel tanks on the Momentums mounted?
