What soap to use to wash camper?

Does regular old carwash soap do the trick ?

    Is there something safer?

I'm worried about dulling the paint, or damaging the finish .. don't know much about the outside ...

There are several threads on this. I use Aero Wash and Wax.

If you tell us the line and model of your RV, we could better advise you. You can create a signature block with your RV and tow vehicle information (see mine below). That way you won't have to repeat that information whenever you post or ask a question - and others won't have to ask. You can create a signature by going to:

Forum Actions (on menu bar) -> Edit Profile -> Edit Signature (under My Settings on the left)

The reason I say this is that RVs with aluminum siding have paint; RVs with fiberglass sides have gelcoat (unless you have paid the $12,000 - $14,000 for full body paint on a Solitude or Momentum). That said, a mild automotive (car wash) detergent is safe for any of the finishes. I'm a fan of Wash Wax All, too.

I've been using Mequiars Ultimate Wash & Wax from Auto Zone or Walmart ($2.00 cheaper).

Just be warned, Dawn will strip any wax on your rig. If you don't have wax, no worries, wash away!

x2 for the Aero wash & wax package with the extendable pole - quite helpful with a 13.5' rig!

I have a trailer wash experience from this past weekend to share. I have been seeing a lot of information on foam cannons and a couple YouTubers using them. So of course I'm thinking, "Hey if there is a better and EASIER way to wash the trailer I'm all in!" Stopped at the store and purchased a foam cannon and picked up a small bottle of Chemical Guys Honeydew Snow Foam soap. Got home and after I inspected and washed the roof I started to get out the pressure washer to wash the trailer sides. My wife asked me what I was doing. I explained that I am going to us the foam cannon and then rinse with the pressure washer. (Insert BIG EYE ROLL here.) She asked what was wrong with how we have been doing it? Which is with a bucket of soap & water, scrub brush, and garden hose with sprayer. You know, the regular way. I said that this should be easier and quicker. So I proceeded to use the cannon and pressure washer. After getting the cannon dialed in the soap did go on as advertised and stuck to the trailer. Eye rolls the whole time. So the trailer was washed with the foam cannon.

Now it's Saturday morning and we are getting ready, at least I thought so, to take the trailer back to storage. The wife is walking around the trailer and looking at spots and wiping spots with her finger. Obviously not at all happy with the results from the foam cannon. I agreed that the results were not what I expected and not acceptable. Sooooooooooooooo . . . . . yes, I ended up rewashing the entire trailer the way we normally do it. We use Meguiars Ultimate Wash & Wax in a bucket with a softish scrub brush and a garden hose. And yes, the results were SO MUCH BETTER. SHE WAS RIGHT, I WAS WRONG.

As my DW says, "Stop listening to those Tubers, they are all a bunch of potato heads!"
