Do you intend to put straps or something over the top of the supports to prevent it from lifting?

Just some spare scrap in my shop and 2 Woods tarp poles from my local Canadian Tire

30 dollars total vs over 150 for the carefree kit

Very nice idea. I may have to copy it. On my previous trailer with the manual awning I could disconnect the diagonal arms at the bottom of the trailer and do this. Miss that on these awnings and what you did fits for what I was looking for and nice and inexpensive.

Yes I miss our old manual awning as well

When we set up camp it is out until we tear down and that has been through hurricanes even

I don’t intend to leave this one out still but just there in case we get wind suddenly

The ends of the poles have a nail sticking out so I drilled a 5/8th hole about an inch and half then used a drill bit the size of the nail to further drill the hole another 2. The pole slid right in and is very tight and secure
