    Furrion A/C strange noise

    I really like my Furrion A/C but I have a strange problem(?) with it. We generally leave the temperature set at 74 or 75 and run the fan on low.

    The compressor will come on for it's standard 2 or 3 minutes.
    After the compressor turns off, the fan is (of course) still running.
    About 10 or 15 seconds later there is a "rattling" sound coming from the A/C while the fan is running. The best way I could describe it is that it sounds like it's raining...rain on the outside roof!
    This will stop after about 30 seconds, with the fan still running, and the entire cycle will repeat itself.

    I'm not really too concerned about it, just curious if anyone else has noticed this noise.

    Hmmm, I can't say that I have noticed that sound but I have my fan set to auto not low so the fan only runs for a few seconds after the compressor cuts off....

    Could it be bits of ice blowing out of the coils after the compressor cycles off? You could run it on high fan and see if it changes the situation.

    Thanks for the suggestion. I will have to investigate further.

    There should be no ice accumulating unless there is a problem with the unit, low charge, dirty filters, etc.
    It's possible the evaporator or condenser fan blades have worked loose on the shaft. Those are the only moving parts when the compressor shuts off. Also go topside, pull the cover and check for any metal components that may have worked loose or that are simply toughing.

    you could pull the filter and see if you can locate the source of the noise on the return side when the compressor kicks off. Or if it sounds like it is coming form the outlet side, you could drop the ceiling bezel but there isn't much to see from the inside of the trailer other than the outlet of the blower (squirrel cage). If that doesn't reveal anything, go on the roof and remove shroud and see if there is anything loose that is rattling.

    @Dbond007 -

    If you really want to get someone's attention, try these two "tricks:"

    1) If you use "Reply With Quote" (to the right of "Reply") as I have here, folks will know to whom you are responding and that person will get a notification.

    2) You can also tag folks using the "@" symbol and their user name (as I have done yours) - they'll also get a notification that way.

    Hi @Dbond007 I haven't had the noise for quite some time, but I did perform some upgrades and fixes. Grand Design sent me the "Thermostat Relocation Kit" which included a new "thermostat" and control box that replaces the one in the intake plenum. I also installed the RV Airflow upgrade and sealed the ducts better in the ceiling registers, as some were leaking into the roof. I don't know why the noise disappeared, but I am very satisfied with the performance of my A/C.
