Unreal - Dealer Damaged my new unit

WOW - I am so angry right now.

I ordered a new unit, waited for it to get built. It arrived last month. I wanted to pick it up on the 24th of June, but they could not accommodate me until Saturday 7/17.

No big deal, I'm all set to go pick it up and I get these pictures in my email this morning.

Apparently when moving it they dropped it off the hitch and damaged the front cap.

We leave on Vacation 8/16..........

I could be crazy, but I dont think I'd want that unit anymore.

If they dropped the trailer you can have jack damage, frame damage and other damage that cannot be seen. At a minimum you would want a factory repair and I would want a different trailer. Hopefully you did not make final payment on it. If you can’t get a different trailer get your deposit back and walk away.

I can't imagine waiting months for a new RV only to have this happen. As others have said, I would not accept this unit. I'd order a new one.

I know you're going on vacation, but I would walk away from that trailer 100% without a doubt. There's sufficient evidence from those few photos that there is likely more severe damage under the surface.

I might go take a close look. Negotiate a deep discount, to the point they lose a bunch of money on the deal. If they agree, Make a temporary fiberglass repair and take the unit on an extended “test drive” while I’m on vacation. All while holding a big final payment until I return from the trip, and the unit performs well during the trip. Then in the off season, they take it to the factory service center for a proper repair. Or, get them to loan you a different unit while GD builds you a new one, at the previous agreed upon price.

Stuff happens, but it’s how the respond and handle it that reveals their true character.

I agree. You are buying a NEW 5'er, not a damaged one!! What have they had to say so far??

So far repair or order a new one.

They can get me a new one rather quickly, but not quick enough to get in time for our trip.

Fortunately I have my current unit, although significantly smaller.
