Water heater. Gas or electric?
I'm very, very new. Have a 2021 381M that was just delivered a few days ago. When the water heater is on electric it gets warm but not hot. When it's on gas it gets very hot. Is this normal between the two methods?

Not normal. All three of the propane/electric water heaters we've owned (in a previous travel trailer, our previous Reflection fifth wheel and our current Solitude) have heated equally well with either heat source. Are the valves on your outside shower closed all the way? They can act as a mixing valve (I doubt this is the issue, though, since you say the HWH heats well on propane.
BTW - you can create a signature block with your RV and tow vehicle information (see mine below). That way you won't have to repeat that information whenever you post or ask a question. You can create a signature by going to:

Are you sure for electric mode the water heater switch on the water heater is on (applies only to Suburban water heaters). Also, are you sure you are operating the electric water heater switch and not the tank heater switch? Just trying to rule out the simple stuff.

As others have stated, not normal. While the recovery rate is typically lower on electric than gas (and obviously lower than both), it should reach the same ultimate temp with either heat source.

FWIW, if the electric was turned on and the tank was empty, the heating element will fail almost immediately. Ours failed once and there was no hot water at all. But another time, I'm a slow learner, the water would get warm, but not hot. Replaced the heating element and all was good. BTW get the element at a hardware store, not an RV dealer, about $10.

I wonder if this is what happened to me. Our fourth trip out, and we have no hot water.

You might get your VOM and check the outside switch, make sure you're getting electricity at the switch. Is your electric also controlled with the electronic monitor inside?
