Changing the hydraulic fluid?
I have a 2016 380TH. The Level-up system has started making some popping noise on the front jacks. I have always followed the 7-day recommendation of cleaning the jacks and using a silicone spray. I'm thinking of adding some anti-stiction fluid.
Here's my question ...
Should I go ahead and replace the ATF in the reservoir at this time? The manual recommends replacing the fluid every 36 months. I've found that opinions on replacing hydraulic fluid are like replacing the brake fluid in your vehicle. Some swear by it while others will tell you its just a waste of time and money. I wasn't able to find much on the topic here and would like to hear from some GD owners.
Thanks,

For the popping sound, search the forum for stiction and you will find some solutions.

Per the LCI manual:
Check fluid in reservoir every 12 months. If fluid is a clear red color, do not change. If fluid is milky, pink and murky and not clear red in color, drain reservoir and add new fluid. Hydraulic fluid in reservoir should be changed a minimum of every 5 years.

I have read that adding the CAT brand of Hydraulic Oil Additive is the only way to fix the popping issue.
The product is: 1U-9891: Hydraulic Oil Additive
You simply remove enough Hydraulic Fluid from your reservoir and add the Cat Additive. I will be doing this as soon as I can remember to stop by my local Cat Dealer to purchase the product.David and Peggy
