    bearing size

We have a bearing on our 351RLTS which has overheated and we need to get it replaced. Does anybody know what size these bearings are? I don't want to pull it out as once it's out we are stuck and may run off the end of our reservation here.

They are pretty standard sizes based on axle capacity. Look at your axle tag and see what the capacity is and then you can shop at any store that sells trailer parts and get the correct bearing. To be 100% sure, you can call the axle mfr and give them your axle S/N and they can give you the correct size.

You have know the axle manufacturer: Lippert or Dexter
And you have to know the axle weight rating: 5200 Lb, 6000 lb, 7,000 lb or 8,000 lb (give or take a few 100#'s)
To look up the baring set.

The Dexter bearing numbers are in these documents:

I recommend Timken brand for replacement, much better quality than the Chinese bearing you are replacing.

If you look at tag on axle, you will find model number and batch number. Lippert or Dexter can supply a sheet with all info on the axle, bearings, seals, brake parts, etc. Once you have this info should you ever get in an emergency situation it is much easier to work with a supplier to get correct parts.

I had a major wheel/brake issue in the middle of nowhere and was able to work with a local trailer parts dealer. It was so much easier as I was able to give them the specific Dexter parts I needed. The parts list and diagrams are a must to carry with you.

I second the suggestion of Timken bearings.

I threw an extra inner and outer set in my tool box in the pass though. It’s nice insurance.

Dexter build sheet got me all the info I needed. Got bearings ordered for all four wheels for spares. Extending our stay at this park and going to check them all. Checking all the brakes while I'm in there and hoping the axle/drum is still good to go after the heat up.

OK, so I got all the parts, tools and got into the crispy bearing today.
Outer bearing was toast, Inner bearing looked to be pretty good actually.
Pulled the bearings and races off the axle and out of the drum.
Attached are pix of the axle, and the outside axle race.
Not sure if I can just clean up the scratches with emory cloth and install the new bearings or if the axle needs to be replaced.
