Recliners hard to close.
22 RBE with the Thomas Payne recliners. Problem is the amount of force required to lock the footrest down. Not the spring tension that elevates the footrest. I already loosened both springs to the lightest setting & no help. The problem is at the bottom, we have to basically slam them shut with our heels to get them to catch & stay closed.
Any ideas before I yank them out & flip them over for a look?

They are adjustable. I just adjusted my wife's day before yesterday.
Open the recliner, get on the floor and look under the open foot rest.
There are two springs, one on each side. Move the hook end of the spring closest to the floor to a higher hole which creates less tension on the spring. I moved both springs to the highest hole. She can now close the recliner much easier.
You don't need to yank or flip anything!Mike & Lisa

Already did that. It does make it easier to push down the leg support, but didn’t to much to help at the very bottom when it has to catch on the release mechanism.
I will not tire, I will not falter, I will not fail. I will win this battle.
