Hwy 50 from Pueblo, CO to Montrose, CO

Is Hwy 50 from Pueblo to Montrose pretty good for a 36 ft 5th wheel RV?

Thinking it may be a tad better than Hwy 24 from Colorado Springs to Buena Vista to Salida then Hwy 50

    Thoughts? Anyone gone that way?

    Many thanks!

50 is definitely the nicer trip and no problem if your rig can handle mountains. Monarch Pass is the toughest climb, just save your brakes coming down. Salida is a nice place to stop, they rebuilt their downtown with some good restaurants. There used to be a nice RV resort around Cimarron. Plus you will travel through Royal Gorge which is really beautiful

We traveled with the 310GK between Poncha Springs and Montrose - no issues with the road and is beautiful especially around the Blue Mesa Lake. I would assume from Pueblo to Poncha Springs is just fine also. The CO DOT website is a good source to refer to for closures, construction, etc.

Thanks for the info... do you think it is "better" than going through Woodland Park on Hwy 24 then through Hartsel, etc down to Salida? Would like to take the easiest "Pass" path.. .and did not know if Monarch was easier than Wilkerson Pass.... plus are there less twisty turns on one vs the other? Thx for any input

Sorry just saw this. I think 50 is an easier trip than 24 but it’s comparable. If you go on a weekend there is a lot of congestion from Manitou through Woodland park as far as Divide, then the cripple creek traffic peels off.

Thanks tons for the reply... I think we will use Hwy 50... and agree, through Woodland Park is a mess... generally... and I should not have any issues with the mountain passes with the new F-350...
    Again, thank you!
