    Taillight Modification

I wasn’t happy with the visibility of the taillights on my 2021 Solitude 345GK. We are in northern Indiana close to the surplus RV parts stores. I purchased 2 12” X 1&1/2” LED taillights & mounted them horizontally at a right angle to the factory vertical LED taillights. Rather than removing the existing lights to get access to the wiring I tapped into the wiring for the 4 way receptacle at the back of the trailer. I drilled 1/2” holes 6” in from the side of the trailer trim & 10 & 1/2” above the bottom of the trailer. I put the new wiring inside 1/2” flexible corrugated tubing & secured it to the underside of the trailer. I’m very happy with the results. There is much better visibility of the brake & turn signals. Here are pictures of the before & after taillight modifications.

We also added new lights to the rear of our rig. I thought they should be vertical, but my husband (who was doing the installing) thought they should be horizontal, just above the tail lights. So that's the way they are.

I did a mod to our Momentum also. The OEM lights are the bottom ones and the vertical ones are the added lights. This is with just the tailights on......

This one is brake lights..... WOW, what a difference that made....

Like others on here, totally not happen with the wake tail lights on our 2019 303 and have acquired LED replacements as well as additional LED strips for vertical mount for additional visibility. Is it fair to say that the rear wall has hollow space to “fish” additional wiring from the factory tail lights to the planned vertical strips?

My factory lights are vertical & behind them are aluminum studs. My solution was to drill through the walls 6” from edge to miss the studs. I drilled below the floor level & fed wiring from the 4 way trailer plug on the rear of the trailer.

I purchased a 60" light bar with 3 rows of led lights, the type you see mounted beneath a tailgate. I mounted it horizontally and centered it on the back of the camper and just plugged it into the 4 way plug at the rear hitch.

That was my original plan but when I saw the LED taillights at the surplus RV parts place for $15 each I decided to go that way. I’ll bet your blight bar looks awesome!

Figured out I can’t do exactly what I was considering doing initially with the additional vertical LED strip, so may end up following your lead after all.
The void behind the tail lights on a 303 are actually the bottom of the end tables beside the sleeper sofa, that much I have figured out.

Regardless, have the drivers side rear tail light replaced and mounted a new license plate frame assy.

Photo showing left side, after changing to LED Taillight. Passenger side for another day.
