    New refer in Reflections

So, as the shortages continue, new email fresh from my Reflection Rep.....

"As you know, we’re battling shortages everyday which has limited our ability to make major changes to Reflection.

Saying that, starting for every Reflection Fifth Wheel and 150Series built 9/1 or later, we will be going to a Furrion 12v REFER and Furrion Solar panel.

We will be updating packages/invoices to reflect the upgrade. This means in Reflection Fifth Wheel and 150Series there will NOT be an option for gas absorption fridge.

This is a huge deal for us. In testing it has performed far better than the gas absorption fridge.

    What you get:

    50amp Charge Controller on all
Inverter prep – 6 gauge wire to the prep which allows you to install up to a 2000w inverter
10 gauge wire to the roof which can be upgraded if you want to install a larger panel or add another.
10cu Furrion REFER with 165w Furrion panel on 150Series
16cu Furrion REFER with 165w Furrion panel on FW – depending on supply we will be bumping this up to a 360w Furrion Panel at some point.

With this system you can pigtail the panels off of each other so you can add more at the dealership if you need to."

You can say you heard it here first......LOL

Is the 12V fridge really better than the gas absorption type? Or just cheaper and/or easier to get..

Well, in my opinion, anything that has a compressor and makes cold air is going to be more efficient than something that removes warm air from a space.

    Better? Everyone's opinion will vary.

Mine, I would swap my gas absorption fridge out today for a reliable 12 volt compressor driven fridge.

I may swap mine out for a residential one. I wish mine had had the 12 v

Gas refrigerators have been around since the mid 1800’s with widespread use starting in the early 1920’s. And here we are 100 years later and they are basically unchanged(With the exception of the electronics which has done nothing but even make the units even more trouble prone) and still as unreliable as ever.
I for one welcome 12v refrigeration. Hopefully if more RV manufacturers adopt 12v in conjunction currently installed residential units, it will hurt Dometic & Norcold to the point that they will now be forced to develop technology that will make their offerings much more reliable and robust. Either get with the times or go the way of the Dodo bird.

So these new fridges have freon? They are inverter units like mini splits?

The advantage of gas of course is that I can run off my propane tanks. With a 12V unit I would have to add solar panels to assure me that I had 12V at all times.

    Thanks
